Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept insurance?

At this time, insurance is accepted for regular therapy at the north location only. All other services are self-pay and rendered at the Templeton Gap location.

What is hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy helps calm the nervous system and brings the client into a state of trance; a state we naturally go into and out of many times during the day. Think of driving, a process so automatic you can zone out and end up at your destination with no memory of getting there. By entering an altered state in hypnosis, your brain waves relax, which causes your conscious mind to follow suit and you are more open to suggestion. Through this self-generated hypnotic state, it is possible to connect to your subconscious, where we store our emotions, memories, beliefs, and automatic thoughts and behaviors, to heal and change patterns, thoughts, and trauma responses.

Is hypnotherapy safe?

Yes! Hypnotherapy has very low risks. The most common negative effects are negative thoughts or feelings between sessions, as is the case with most therapeutic interventions.

What is the difference between a hypnotist and hypnotherapist?

A Clinical Hypnotherapist holds a minimum of a Master's degree and has completed over 500 hours of specialized training in hypnotherapy. A hypnotist may or may not have qualified mental education and only 24 hours of hypnosis training. A hypnotist uses a one-way method of giving surface-level suggestions to break habits and change patterns, while hypnotherapy is a more personal, deeper therapeutic intervention by a licensed and certified mental health professional that addresses the underlying issues and their root causes.

How many sessions are recommended?

Hypnotherapy can be effective in just one session! However, depending on the presenting issue and level of distress a client is experiencing, multiple sessions are generally recommended. Hypnotherapy sessions begin at $200 for a two-hour session with discounted multi-session packages available. Psychotherapy sessions begin at $125 per hour-long session. Ask about special discounts and bundled packages of hypnotherapy and psychotherapy sessions.
